Last year I attended a Kinesiology for Kids (K4K) Course.

I was taught how to balance children who are feeling out of balance from low energy, food cravings, body discomfort or unhappy feelings through running a set of 8 exercises used to stimulate the body.

These exercises help gain overall health, energy, co-ordination and reduces stress on the mind and body. Studies have shown these exercises can have a massive impact for children with learning difficulties including those with autism.

My favourite exercise is called switching. It helps kids with body confusion, poor right/left co-ordination or spacial differentiation and problems interpreting b and d or d and p. I love this exercise as my 5 year old William always rights backwards and has difficulty connecting left and right brain or switching it on when asked specific questions. I too am often a little backwards, regularly lunging or twisting to the wrong side in yoga or reading incorrectly. However with daily exercise we can gain balance and a better ability to learn.

MK was learning to muscle test against food sensitivities. Without holding the food or putting it on the skin or under the tongue, muscle testing the thought of the food is enough to show if a weakness exists and how long the food should be kept out of a child’s diet. I for example, continue to use muscle testing to confirm that at present William and I should not be eating tomatoes (stay tuned for my article on Nightshades and why to avoid later). Continued use of sensitive or chemically rich foods can store up in the liver causing immune and gut issues. Children who are bed-wetting, having nightmares, poor sleep, poor concentration, are not thriving, have behavioural problems, self esteem issues or learning difficulties can all benefit from muscle testing and energy balancing.
